His obituary: Obituary for Billy Eugene Reece –
Billy Reece, age 83, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 after a long battle with MS and Parkinson's Disease. Billy was born in Woodstock, Georgia on June 20, 1937. He was happily married to his wife Joyce for 62 years. He retired from American Home Products in 1996 and enjoyed his initial retirement years serving as a bailiff for the Cobb County Sheriff's Department. For over 40 years, he was a member of the Board of Directors for the North Georgia State Fair. He will be remembered by many for sharing countless passes to the fair each fall. He was a long-time member of Maple Avenue Methodist Church in Marietta where he created many lifelong friendships through his beloved Sunday School class. Over the years, Billy enjoyed camping, golfing and spending time outside in his yard. Perhaps his greatest joy came when he became Paw Paw to three grandchildren- Jordan, Austin and Madison. Wherever there was a game or event, he was always there to support them. He was especially blessed in July with the arrival of Emerson Reece, his first great grandchild. To know Billy was to love him. He was naturally kind and quick with a smile. He rarely met a stranger that didn’t soon become his friend. He will be greatly missed. Billy was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Lola Reece; daughter Connie Lynn; and brother Grady Reece, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Reece, daughter Terri Miramonti (Rich); grandchildren Jordan (Michaela), Austin, Madison and Emerson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the Historic Marietta Chapel. Burial will be in Kennesaw Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Children's Home – a charity especially close to Billy's heart.
