Her obituary: Clista Ella Sullivan Carter March 16, 1937 - January 3, 2022 – Clista Ella Sullivan Carter, 84, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on January 3, 2022. She was born in Marietta on March 16, 1937 to parents Sam P. and Cora Jane Sullivan. Clista worked for many years until her retirement at Atlanta Gas Light – Marietta, where she met and worked with many people with whom she formed life-long friendships. She grew up with a love of music and singing, teaching herself how to play the piano at a young age. Her passion for cooking for loved ones inspired the same fondness in her family through passed-down personal and heirloom recipes. She was a loving mother to Jennifer Carter Nuckolls (husband Ross) and Karen Carter Ward. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Jessica Nuckolls and Christopher Ward; with two great-grandchildren, Allyson Ward and Christopher Ward, Jr. Clista was one of nine children and is survived by sisters, Dell Roach, Betty Crane, Ann Thurmond, and her brother, Larry Sullivan. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Neil, Harold, Alfred, and Benny Sullivan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 5th, at Eastwood Baptist Church in Marietta. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Historic Marietta Chapel is handling the arrangements.
