Dorothy Feltman. Dorothy died on September 20, 2006.
Her obituary: Martin, Dorothy –
Dorothy (Dot) Martin entered into the presence of God and received her well-deserved reward on September 20th, 2006. Dot lost her valiant struggle surrounded by her family and friends. Dot was born on June 3rd, 1936 in Shannon, Georgia. She spent her childhood in Kennesaw and attended Sprayberry High School where she was voted Best Looking. Shortly thereafter, while working at Hunt's Economy Ice Cream Co. she caught the eye of a young soldier who had just returned home from the Korean War. Leon's love for hot dogs and ice cream had led him to his future bride. They were married on June 15th, 1956 and the young couple was soon blessed with Lisa, Melanie, and Jennifer. Dot and her family were active at Maple Avenue United Methodist Church where she and Leon were faithful members of the Chancel Choir and the B.B. King Sunday School Class. Dot's love for the Lord led her to a passion for evangelism and support for ministries all over the world. Dot loved her professional life in the construction industry. As a woman she was a pioneer in the industry, working her way up from being a secretary to becoming one of the most successful salespersons in the world for Porvene Doors. Because she cared so deeply for them, her customers were fiercely loyal and often refused to buy from any other salespeople. She helped other women in her business through her participation in Women in Construction. Several months ago Dot and Leon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a gala celebration. Many friends and family joined to honor Dot and Leon's storybook marriage. Everyone who knew them saw that their love was strong and simple, that it was passionate and pure. Through the years Dot always ensure that home was filled with love, laughter and food. Her door was always open to her children and grandchildren's friends, to visitors, and to those in need. She welcomed anyone and everyone and her home was a place of warmth and ministry. She filled her home with the good deals she found as she frequented estate sales. She had a gift for flower arranging and tended faithfully to her many plants and flowers in her beautiful yard. Dot was especially well known for her cooking. She loved to prepared large Sunday lunches after church for her family and anyone else who came through the door. Those Sunday lunches were eagerly anticipated by all her children and grandchildren and were notable for the home cooked food and loud laughter. She was Dorothy to her sibling, Dot to Leon, Mama to her children, and Nana to her adoring grandchildren. To everyone else she met she was sunny, loving, faithful and full of life. She will be missed by all and leaves a void that time cannot fill, but she eagerly anticipated seeing her Lord face to face and being welcomed into His loving embrace. As we grieve, we rejoice in her victory.
