Her obituary: Hazel A. McPherson, 61, Acworth resident – Hazel Atkins McPherson, 61, of Acworth died Sunday, Aug. 2. Services will be 3 p.m. today at Medford-Pedan Funeral Home in Marietta, with the Revs. Franklin McPherson and Bob Goodner officiating. Burial will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.
A Marietta native, Ms. McPherson lived in Acworth for the past two years. She retired in 1988 after 15 years of service with the Cobb County Board of Education as a food service worker, most recently with Kincaid Elementary School. Mrs. McPherson was a member of Carmel Baptist Church in Woodstock. Survivors include her husband, Ralph T. McPherson; one son, Wendell R. McPherson of Loganville; three daughters, Monica Southern of Dallas, Alicia Pope of Marietta and Marlena Dodd of Acworth; one brother, Cecil Atkins Sr. of Marietta; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Contributions can be made to WellStar Hospice at 55 South Medical Drive, Marietta, Ga. 30060.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
