April 5, 1936 – June 16, 2024 –
James Olen Abney, age 88, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024. He was born in Kennesaw, Georgia on April 5, 1936 to the late Paul and Bessie Abney. James was a lifetime resident of Cobb County, and was proud to call this area home. He owned his own Automotive Repair Shop from 1960-2023. The shop was very important to him and it is where he made many new friends. He was known for a high sense of honor and integrity, as well as his work ethic. James was a huge fan of Nascar and of John Deere tractors. More than anything in this world, James loved his family. He wanted to be with them as much as he could. James will be missed by all that had the honor of knowing him.
James is survived by his son; Jason Abney (Leesa), three grandchildren; Alan Abney, Austin Abney (Orianne), and Kevin Orzechowski (Heather), great grandchild; Elliana Marie Orzechowski, and sister; Melba Blackwood.
James is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years; Claudell Abney, as well his three brothers and two sisters.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA 30152. The funeral service will occur Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM. A committal service will occur after the service at Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
