3/16/37 ~ 7/7/2016 – Steve Wesley Brown, age 79, peacefully passed away to be with Jesus on the evening of July 7, 2016 in Houston, Texas. He fought a long battle with cancer but was completely independent until the end. He was a loving and devoted friend, brother, and uncle. Steve was born on March 16, 1937 in Marietta, Georgia to Wesley Clinton Brown and Clara Mozelle Hartsfield Brown. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Doyle and Ralph Brown and his nephew, Michael Brown. He is survived by his devoted friend, Gregory Mark Shelton, his sister Betty Dotson, his brothers and sister-in-laws, Herb and Nelle Brown, Glenn and Joan Brown, James and Janet Brown, Margie Brown and many nieces and nephews. Steve graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1955 and served in the Georgia Air National Guard. After graduating from Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering in 1959, he worked in Virginia, at Lockheed Marietta and then moved to the New Orleans and later the Houston area. There he supported the NASA programs, especially the Space Shuttle Program working as an aerodynamicist and database technologist. During the Space Shuttle Program he was employed with Chrysler Corporation, McDonnell Douglas, and Lockheed Martin. Steve also worked as a consultant in the later years and was an integral part of the team responsible for Space Shuttle Program wind tunnel test database archiving activity including completing final documentation of the entire Space Shuttle Wind Tunnel Test Program. He also worked on building the electronic digital database for distribution and future reference until he retired in 2012. Steve's memorial service will be Saturday, July 30th at H.M. Patterson & Son-Canton Hill Chapel at 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, Georgia. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am and followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00. Burial will follow at the Campground Cemetery on Roswell Road. Donations may be given in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society or the Campground Cemetery Perpetual Care Association Inc.
