Her obituary: Compton, Voncile. Voncile Compton, 67, of Atlanta, died August 2, 2005 at Doctor's Hospital of Augusta. A devoted mother and grandmother, she was loved by many. Daughter of the late Luke and Voncile Blackwell Compton, Mrs. Compton was a member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church where she enjoyed playing the piano and singing for the senior Sunday School class. She was a very proud 1971 graduate of Georgia Tech. Surviving Mrs. Compton are her son and his fiancée, Jimmy Dean and Wanda Pitts of Atlanta; granddaughter, Hope Elizabeth Dean of Carrollton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Tony Brakefield, Judy and Tommy Smoke, all of South Carolina; niece, Gwen Baird of Carrollton, TX. Funeral services for Mrs. Compton will be held Friday, August 5, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowen in Covington and interment following at Lawnwood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 4, 2005 from 6:00-9:00 PM. Caldwell & Covan, Covington, GA.
