Her obituary: Virginia Lee Hopper, June 18, 1938 – May 11, 2023. Rev. Virginia L. Hopper, age 84 of Marietta, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday, May 21, 2023 in the chapel of the Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. Interment will be in Sweetwater Memorial Park Cemetery in Hiram. Rev. Hopper was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Hopper, great grandchildren Karlee Taylor, Hope Hopper and Jason James Hopper, brothers Melvin, Marion, and Jackie McClure and one sister Sarah Pitts. Surviving are her brothers Rozell McClure (Joyce) of Sanford, FL. James McClure (Janice) of Cedar Bluff, AL. sisters in law Joan McClure of Adairsville, GA, and Marlene McClure of Cedartown, GA, her children Rev. Carol Bowlin (Cecil James) of Acworth, Gerald Samuel Hopper, Jr. (Darlene) of Powder Springs, Ruth Leddin (Gregory) of Kennesaw, Rev. Johnathan Hopper of Austell, grandchildren Kimberly Taylor (Brad), Nathan Bowlin (Kayla), Luke Bowlin, Abby Willis (Brandon), Lydia Dixon (Clay), Chris Hopper (Pamela), Joshua Hopper, Tosha Hatfield (Zackary), great grandchildren Anna Grace Beck, Naomi Dixon, Hailey Hopper, Kaitlyn Hopper, Caleb Dixon, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 – 5 pm Saturday, May 20, 2023 and Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 1 – 2 at the funeral home.
