His obituary: Glen Paul Abney, 62, Amoco Retiree – GLEN ABNEY – Amoco Retiree Glen Paul Abney, 62, of Kennesaw, passed Tuesday, October 16, 2001 after a valiant fight against cancer. Mr. Abney was a graduate of Sprayberry High School and attended Kennesaw College. After serving in the United States Army, he began a 37 year career with Amoco, working in Atlanta, Knoxville, Baltimore and Chicago. In 1993, he was the recipient of a Torch Award under Amoco Oil Company's Torch Award Program. A man greatly admired by his family and friends, Mr. Abney is survived by his mother, Bessie Adair Abney of Kennesaw; three sisters, Martha Trotter of Ellijay, Linda Williamson of Marietta, and Melba Blackwood of Kennesaw; three brothers, James Abney of Kennesaw, Bob Abney of Kennesaw, and Donald Abney of Waleska. He was predeceased by his father, Paul Abney. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive him. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1825 Barrett Lakes Blvd., Suite 280, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Family members will receive visitors from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Salem Baptist Church in Kennesaw. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta.
