October 22, 1939 – June 20, 2024 – Mrs. Carolyn Joy Davis age 84 of Mountain Valley Drive, Blue Ridge, passed away peacefully at Chatuge Hospital on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Mrs. Davis was born on October 22, 1939, in Marietta, GA., the daughter of the late Halton Spinks and the late Josephine Church Spinks. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Joy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Cohen Bruce Davis in 2019 and sister, Brenda Ayer. She was a member of the East Cobb United Methodist Church in Marietta and attended the First United Methodist Church in Blairsville and Sugar Hill Baptist Church in Blue Ridge. Surviving Mrs. Davis are one daughter Elizabeth Smiley of Blue Ridge, two sons and two daughters-in-law, Bruce Davis of Blue Ridge, Tim and Trena Davis of Hoschton, GA., Jenny Davis of FL., son-in-law, Jerry Smiley of Blue Ridge, one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Wanda Spinks of Lafayette, GA., two sisters and one brother-in-law, Pat Holcomb of Marietta, Meri and Dr. Richard Hunter of Douglasville, GA., five grandchildren, Christopher and Bailey Smiley, Jared and William Smiley, Will Davis, Caroline Davis, and Shelby Hodges three great-grandchildren Hunter, River, and Summer Smiley, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 3:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Blairsville, GA with the Rev. Tim Garrett, and Dr. Richard Hunter officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Mrs. Davis. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
