Her obituary: Bobbie Jo Ray Sparks July 23, 1940 - August 03, 2013 – Mrs. Bobbie Jo Ray Sparks, age 73, of Adairsville, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 at her daughter’s residence. Mrs. Sparks was born in Marietta, GA, July 23, 1940, daughter of the late Thomas W. and Arizona Rogers Ray. She was of the Baptist faith and had retired from the City of Marietta where she served for over twenty-eight years as a school bus driver. In addition to working for the city, she managed a Budget Truck Rental owned and operated by her family. A deeply compassionate woman, Mrs. Sparks had a soft spot for animals, raising numerous cats, dogs, and chickens, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Connie Brown; 2 sisters, Gaynell Hancock and Joyce Ray; brother, Douglas Ray. She is survived by, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Scott Reynolds of Kennesaw and Janeice and Troy Confer of Woodstock; 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Alan Sparks of Cartersville and Scott and Lisa Priest of Cartersville; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Jean Driskell of Rockmart, Mae Holcomb of Woodstock, Delona Ray of Rydal, Peggy Simpson of White; 2 brothers, Danny Ray of Ballground and David Ray of Rydal; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Robert Bennett, Kathy Reynolds, and Rev. Charles Roper officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, Cartersville. Robert Bennett, Daniel Sparks, Brandon Henderson, Troy Confer, Kyle Confer, and Jeremiah Key will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Monday, August 5, 2013, at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Sparks' honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or online at www.stjude.org.
