His obituary: Jimmy Mearl Pitts, July 31, 1941 – September 9, 2025. Jimmy Mearl Pitts, passed away peacefully in his home the morning of September 9, 2025, in Senoia, Georgia with family by his bedside. Born on July 3, 1941, in Woodstock, Georgia, Jimmy lived a loving, full, and vibrant life, reaching the age of 84. He shared his life with his beautiful bride of 61 years, Carol Pitts (Thacker) as constant loving companions. His devotion to and love for his Lord Jesus Christ radiated in his relationships. Jimmy's family was his greatest treasure, especially being a Granddaddy. His four grandsons filled his heart with tremendous pride and joy. Jim was a proud graduate of Sprayberry High School in Cobb County, class of 1959, and he maintained numerous high school friendships over the years. He was also an avid, lifelong Georgia Bulldogs fan. Jimmy was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent his entire career at Georgia Power, from which he retired after 46 years of commendable service. While at Georgia Power, Jimmy built many deep friendships through the years. His commitment to his job was a true reflection of his character and work ethic, He won numerous safety awards throughout his years at Georgia Power. Following his retirement, Jimmy joined the Georgia Power Ambassadors Retirement Group, staying in touch with his work friends. Jimmy had a deep love for his community, evident through his decade long volunteer work alongside Carol, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, where he generously gave his time and energy serving others. Additionally, Jimmy was an active member of the Kiwanis Club, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to numerous charitable efforts. Jimmy lived his life as a true servant of God and his community. Most importantly, he lived his life striving to share the love of Christ with others, as his faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was an Elder at both Morrow Presbyterian Church and McDonough Christian Church, before moving to Senoia in 2007. Jimmy is preceded in death by his loving parents, Farrell and Mae Pitts, as well as older sister Faye Austin and older brother Forrest Pitts. He leaves behind a devoted, loving family who will deeply cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Carol Pitts; his daughter, Beth Greene and son-in-law, Steve; and his son, Kevin Pitts and daughter-in-law, Tonya. He was a very proud grandfather to grandsons Tanner Pitts, Matthew (Elizabeth) Greene, Noah (Sage) Greene, and Aaron (Kenya) Titshaw. Jimmy is also survived by his beloved sister, Mildred McClung, who will dearly miss her daily phone calls from her baby brother. Many nieces and nephews will also miss their Uncle Jim. The family will host a Celebration of Life to honor Jimmy at Evergreen Church in Peachtree City, Georgia on Saturday October 4th, at 1:00 pm. A light reception will follow at the church for those wishing to visit with the family. We welcome you to provide your condolences, thoughts, and memories on our Tribute Wall.
