January 29, 1941 – January 3, 2012. John C. Shearer, loving husband of Brenda Shearer of Woodstock, GA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday January 3rd, 2012. He was surrounded by his family. He was 70 years old. John was born in Kittanning, PA January 29th 1941 to John W & Bernice Shearer. John was a Deacon and Sunday school teacher of Piedmont Church in Marietta, GA. He was retired from Lockheed Martin after 41 years. John loved his family, friends, church, camping, fishing, hunting but most of all Jesus Christ. John is survived by his childhood sweetheart former Brenda Vaughn of Smyrna, GA and just celebrated their 49th wedding Anniversary in December of 2011. Other surviving family members are his children, son Keith Shearer of Woodstock, GA, daughters Melanee (husband, John) Welch of Woodstock, GA and Pam (husband, Scotty) Howell of Acworth, GA. Grandchildren Brandon Baker of Acworth, GA, Brianna Shearer Louisville, TN, Josh Welch of Woodstock, GA and Courtney (husband, Justin) Akins of Dallas, GA, great grandchildren Brnnin Clark, Katie Clark, Amber Akins and Jesse Akins. Sisters, Lois Sitton of Rockport, TX and Noreen Gossage of Marietta, GA. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00 in Piedmont Baptist church. Dr. Dwight Ike Reighard officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 5-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the ALS foundation in his name.
