His obituary: Whitfield, Leon – Leon Whitfield, age 71 of Loganville, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Loganville Baptist Church. Rev. Rusty Ruark will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM at Willeo Baptist Church Cemetery, Roswell. Mr. Whitfield was a member of Loganville Baptist Church where he was an Honorary Deacon. He served as a Deacon for 50 years between Willeo Baptist Church and Loganville Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Kiwanis in Loganville. Mr. Whitfield is survived by his wife of 52 years, Norma Jean Whitfield, Loganville; children: Valerie & Mel Cown, Athens; Jeanne Eubanks; Tim & Stephanie Whitfield, all of Loganville; sister: Doris Brooks, Acworth: brother: Jerry Buice, Jasper; grandchildren: Trae, Candace & Collyn; Brandon & Brittany Jones; Kaylie Eubanks; Heather Whitfield. Flowers accepted or in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6500 Sugarloaf Pkwy, Ste 260, Duluth, GA 30097.
