Class of 1959

Yolanda Hicks. Yolanda died on September 8, 2021.

No obituary was published. Her daughter posted this tribute to her on Facebook: For five days I have tried to write this and I can't seem to complete it. My sweet mother Yolanda Green left us on September 8 just before 9 PM. She fought a good fight, but the pneumonia was more than her body could recover from. My brother and I sat with her to the very end. She was a brilliant woman and many times the first woman to do many of her jobs. She was one of the first Cobb County Police Department women police officers, first woman deputy sheriff at the Cobb County Sheriff's Department jail and she was proud to let you know that she was the first woman to wear pants at the Sheriff's department. She was an investigative sergeant when she left the Sheriff's department to move on to work in plant protection at Lockheed . She published a book of poems, wrote music, wrote stories and she even holds a patent for her foot warmer cushion. She is very much loved by her children, her grandson, granddaughter and great-grandchildren as well as all of the extended family members who call her RockRock. And her sister and nieces and nephews. We will be scheduling a memorial service in the future closer to her birthday in October. It will be located in Rome Georgia at her home on the land that she loved.
