His obituary: Andrew Joseph McGowan, 62, of Woodstock, died Wednesday. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Teresa; son, Stephen and wife, Shannon of Canton; grandchildren, Andrew Bowen, Stephen Benjamin and Faith Ann McGowan. Also surviving are brothers, John and Michael McGowan; and sisters, Eloise Vietch, Maureen Maxwell, Annette Evans and Patsy Lagine. Mr. McGowan was a United States Army veteran, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodstock. He enjoyed meeting and greeting the customers at his most recent job, at BJ's Wholesale Club. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 3 PM at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock with Leslie Whitney, officiating. The body will lie instate from 2 until 3 and interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8, Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cherokee County Right to Life. Woodstock Funeral Home is assisting the family, 8855 Main St., 770-926-3107.
