Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 3pm at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 315 Kurtz Rd., Marietta, GA 30066, with Rev. Shannon Westbrook officiating. A Funeral will be held on Saturday, December 12th at Lebanon Baptist Church in Dawsonville, GA. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Don was born in Cherokee County on June 9, 1944. He lived there until the age of 7 when he moved with his family to Cobb County. He decided he wanted to be a hairdresser at the age of 16, so after graduating from Sprayberry High School, he went on to attend Marietta University of Cosmetology on the Marietta Square. He started dating Flonnie Evans at the age of 18 and they were married on his 19th birthday. Flonnie became a hairdresser too. Ten months later, they had their first daughter, Dee Dee. Thirteen months after that, they had another daughter named Gala. Between the two babies, Don and Flonnie, at the ages of 20 and 19, opened their first hair salon. They went on to stay in the business for 50+ years. Their daughters Dee Dee and Gala went into the hair business as well and later their granddaughter Acacia joined them. Elon Salon became large so their son-in-law, Robert, joined their team as a manager. Don loved the hair business because he loved people. He loved the staff and enjoyed the clients, and his clients loved his grand knowledge of almost every subject anyone could bring up. Don loved his family, his country, and God, with God and his faith being at the top of the list. He gave up his life in many ways to help people. People were truly touched by his presence. Flonnie always said Don was her hero and she will miss him in every way. Donand Flonnie worked, traveled, and did almost everything together day and night. Don was always positive, even throughout his heart failure. He was a fighter to the end without complaining. Don loved his family deeply. His family and friends remember him as their rock and mentor. He was always willing to learn, teach, and care for others. Don is survived by his wife, Flonnie Westbrook, of Marietta; daughters, Dee Dee Hightower (Robert), of Canton, and Gala Cronic, of Marietta; half-brothers, Oscar Westbrook, of Woodstock, and Tony Westbrook, of Alpharetta; sister, Virginia Whitaker (Buzz), of Jasper; and grandaugther, Acacia Cronic and her father, Steve Cronic, of Marietta.
