His obituary: Ora Eugene Gene Matlock Jr., November 4, 1944 – February 21, 2014. Ora Eugene Gene Matlock, Jr. died Friday, February 21, 2014 in Fayetteville, GA after a short illness. The son of the late O.E. Matlock, Sr. and Grace Martin Matlock, he was born in Marietta, GA and was a lifetime resident of Georgia.
A member of MENSA, he was a graduate of Sprayberry High School, Oglethorpe University, and received an M.B.A. from Georgia State University. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, then worked as a bond broker until his retirement. He is survived by Leslie Gullatt, his wife of many years and her niece, Erin, and nephew Kyle and his wife Emily; brother John Jacob Matlock, II of Marietta and sister, Lily Grace M. Hudson (Thomas B.) of Gambrills, MD and Pawleys Island, SC. Visitation will be Monday evening at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Interment will be at Snow Hill Methodist Cemetery in Franklin, N.C.
