Mary Ann Turner Braswell Smith, a cherished mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, at the age of 79 in Jacksonville, Florida after a short battle with lung cancer. Born on November 5, 1944 in Marietta, GA, Mary Ann lived a life marked by devotion to her family. Mary Ann graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1962 and went on to leave a significant mark on her home communities through various roles. She co-owned the Newnan Bakery for a time, and later served the Marietta community as a teller at First Union Bank. Her career also included a notable period working for the Coweta County School System where her children attended school. Beyond her professional life, Mary Ann was a member of her local churches, Shady Grove Baptist Church in Marietta and First Baptist Church in Newnan. In recent years she moved to Jacksonville, FL to live near her oldest daughter, Janice. Her happiest years were spent here, living independently as a loved member of the Florida Christian Apartment community in Murray Hill. She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory, including her children, Janice Butler (Michael) of Jacksonville, FL, Pamela Houston (Keith) of Acworth, GA, and Bryan Braswell (Ilse) of Kingsland, GA; grandchildren, James Houston, Addison Braswell, Ayden Braswell, and Miranda Flowers; her sister, Brenda Turner Wilkes; and niece, Julie Marsh. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Wallace Turner and Robert Lee Turner. A graveside service for immediate family will honor Mary Ann's life and legacy.
