Carolyn Joyce Brackett, May 25, 1944 – August 13, 2018. Mrs. Carolyn Joyce Brackett age 74 of Blackwell Woods Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday August 13, 2018 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Brackett was born on May 25, 1944 in Dallas, GA., the daughter of the late Fred William Gibson and the late Dorothy Louise Levell Gibson. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. Carolyn was a member of the Morganton Chapter of the Eastern Star and had served as Past Worthy Matron. She enjoyed reading, camping, traveling with her husband Charles, decorating her home, and working with people. She loved hummingbirds and her dog Pepper which brought her a lot of joy. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Smyrna and attended New Hope Baptist. Surviving Mrs. Brackett are her loving husband and best friend of fifty eight years, Charles Brackett of Blairsville, two sons and daughters in law, Dwain and Glenda Brackett of Blairsville, Doug and Mary Brackett of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister in law, J.C. Gibson, Eugene and Rose Gibson all of Cherokee, NC., two sisters and one brother in law, Lillian Richey of Buford, GA., Barbara and Dan Stone of Canton, GA., four grandchildren, Brody Brackett, Gina Sheriff, Kaye Rich and Billy Joe and Misty Jones, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday August 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Liberty Hill Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Buddy Pittman and Tim Grizzle officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Liberty Hill Church Cemetery Fund % Martha Brackett 136 Forest Circle Blairsville, GA. 30512 in memory of Mrs. Brackett.
