His obituary: Mr Arthur Or Lamar Drummond, 67. Mr. Arthur Lamar Drummond, 67, of Taylorsville went home to be with his Lord on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at his residence, after battling ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease) for more than three years. Born in Marietta March 29, 1944, he was the son of the late Cisero Drummond and the late Sallie Blaylock Drummond. Lamar attended Sprayberry High School and was employed by C.W. Matthews Contracting Company for 20-plus years. He retired in 2007 from DMI Distributions in Calhoun. He has been a resident of Taylorsville for the past 10 years, where he was an active member of Taylorsville Baptist Church. A pioneer in an ALS Stem Cell Research Program at Emory University Hospital, Lamar was the first in the program to receive 1 million stem cells into his spinal cord. This has led to many more research programs in search of a cure for Lou Gehrig Disease. Lamar never lost hope of finding a cure.
