His obituary: Marty Hicks – WOC Edward Martin (Marty) Hicks, 23, of 118 Paris Lane, Marietta, died Wednesday. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. K.B. Robertson and Rev. Alton Miller officiating. Burial will be in Kennesaw Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Survivors include sons, Jeffrey Martin Hicks and David Todd Hicks of Marietta; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Hicks, Marietta; brothers, Charlie Hicks, George H. Hicks and Michael Hicks of Marietta; maternal grandmother Mrs. J.C. Ponder, Marietta; paternal grandfather Charlie Hicks, Marietta. The 1963 football team and coaches from Sprayberry High School will serve as honorary escorts. Albert M. Dobbins Funeral Home is in charge.
