Michael Gunter. Michael died on February 8, 2010.

His obituary: Rock Hill – Mr. C. Michael Gunter, 64, died peacefully in his home in Rock Hill on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010. He was born to the late Cloyce Baxter and Myrtle Murray Gunter, Dec. 6, 1945, in Marietta, Ga. Mike graduated Sprayberry High School in 1963 and studied Engineering and Architecture at Georgia Institute of Technology. He married Diane Herbert in 1973 and they lived together in Atlanta and Marietta, Ga., Trinidad, and the U.S. Virgin Islands before relocating to Rock Hill in 1994. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the late 1960s and returned to a career in the home and commercial building industry. Michael was an entrepreneur with C. L. Cloninger Trucking Company. Michael enjoyed listening to jazz and reading a good book with his dogs by his feet. He was an avid gardener and a passionate cook who loved entertaining friends and family with great conversation and delicious food on the back deck. Michael is survived by his wife, Diane H. Gunter; one daughter, Charlotte C. Oliver and her husband, Jacob Y. Oliver; and two grandchildren, Autumn N. Hunter and Jaedon Y. Oliver, all of Rock Hill. He is also survived by a brother, Lamar Gunter of Marietta, Ga., and preceded in death by a sister, Louise Gunter Mitchell. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, S.C. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Interim Healthcare Hospice, 154 Amendment Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
