Her obituary: Janis Elaine Bailey Simms, December 21, 1946 – June 15, 2023. We are sad to announce the passing of Janis Elaine Bailey Simms of Marietta, GA who succumbed to a sudden illness June 15, 2023. Janis was born on December 21, 1946 to father, James H. Bailey and mother, Marjorie Faye Treadwell Bailey. After graduating Sprayberry High School, Janis went to work at Lockheed Aircraft. After working at Lockheed, she started Kennestone Hospital's X-Ray Technician program where she graduated first in her class. After working as an X-Ray technician, she returned to Lockheed until her retirement. Always a woman with purpose, Janis later returned to the workforce again as an X-Ray Technician at Pinnacle Orthopedics until her final career retirement. Janis loved tending to her beautiful flowers, working in the yard and keeping her home in excellent shape. She was a pet advocate and loved all animals, especially her beloved pup Jesse. Janis loved her family dearly and is survived by her dutiful husband Bill Simms, step daughter Cathryn Alvis and husband David Alvis, step daughter Kendal Simms and fiancé Brandon Koehle, grandchildren Cameron and Carter Alvis, nieces Paula Dean and Vicky Golden along with her great nieces and nephews. She touched the lives of so many family and friends and will sorely be missed by all. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 12 Noon in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends between the hours of 10 AM until 12 Noon at the funeral home.
