His obituary: Michael Samuel Irwin, 1944 – 2010. Michael Samuel Irwin, 66, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, October 29, 2010 at Emory University Hospital. Born August 25, 1944 in Cedartown, he was the son of the late Fred Samuel Irwin and the late Margaret S. Irwin. Sam was of the Christian Faith and very strong in his belief. He was a charter member of the Bread of Life Christian Center. Sam is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janie Roland Irwin; two sons, Michael Shane Irwin and John Frederick Irwin all of Cartersville; two very special and precious grandchildren, Tristen Brook Irwin and Cooper Ray Carey Irwin; a daughter-in-law, Stacy Irwin; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Fredda and Joel Flowers, Mary and Ron Lee, Karen Ceil and Frank Perkins; a special cousin, Dwight Redding; two special friends, Robin Hendrix and Darlene Wickham and several nieces and nephews. Sam was a longtime, hometown morning host with WBHF Radio in Cartersville with award winning programs. His Morning Buffett show had many loyal listeners. He loved people and radio, especially oldies music. He also hosted a night time show with South 107 radio in Rome called Crying, Loving or Leaving in the 90s and was known as Mason Reed. He was in radio for over 40 years and loved everyone and appreciated all his listeners. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Max Maybern officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 -7 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be to The Bread of Life Christian Center, 267 Simpson Road, NE, White, Georgia 30184. Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Michael Samuel Irwin. Sam’s life came to a close the same way he closed his radio program saying Until tomorrow, God bless and y'all love one another.
