His obituary: Charles E. Chuck Clark, June 26, 1947 – January 19, 2016. Charles E. Chuck Clark, 68, of Marietta passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Marietta with Dr. Sam Matthews officiating. Chuck was a 1965 graduate of Sprayberry High School and graduated from Mercer University with both his Bachelor of Arts in 1969 and his Juris Doctor in 1972. Chuck served in the United States Army and received his honorable discharge in 1990 with the rank of Major. Other notable dates in his life include his achievement of Eagle Scout in 1961, his admittance to practice law in front of the United States Supreme Court in 1980, his appointment to the Cobb County Commission on Children and Youth in 1988, and his lifetime service award from the Cobb County Bar Association in 2013. Chuck lived most of his life in Marietta, but was very proud of his South Georgia heritage, being born in Brunswick, Georgia and spending many years vacationing in the Golden Isles. In addition, he took every opportunity to travel abroad, from Europe to Africa and many stops in between. Chuck enjoyed his friends, and was well known for his social adventures. He was a true renaissance man, having experienced everything from scuba diving in the Caribbean, running for state-wide office, to singing in Carnegie Hall. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Mary Staley Clark of Marietta; two sons, Daniel Clark and his wife, Kelly, Geoffrey Clark and his wife, Jennifer all of Marietta; three grandchildren, Emily Grace Clark, Ryan Clark, and Alexa Clark. Keeping with Chuck’s abiding love for animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue and Adoptions, Inc., 2774 North Cobb Parkway, Suite 109-189, Kennesaw, GA 30152.
