Julia Sewell. Julia died on January 7, 2021.
Her obituary: Julia Elaine Garrett, August 20, 1947 – January 7, 2021. Lakeland – Julia would like you to know that her work here is done. She had a mission, a calling on her life, and that mission is complete. Her reward for a job well done is a reunion with her dad and mom, Lawton and Grace Sewell, and her Aunt Ida. She will be singing, playing the piano, dancing, and reading to her heart's content. She will have love and laughter and feasts extraordinaire. (Although she was known to have said that if she got to Heaven and a size 18/20 was the perfect size, she was not going to be happy.) Most importantly, she will be in the arms of a Savior that she spent her entire life loving and serving. Her time here was well spent. Her best friend, adventure partner and husband of 55 years was James Garrett (aka Jim, Doug, or Douglas). She also loved any time she could get with her brothers and sisters: Mary Abernathy, Jerry and Nina Sewell, Evelyn and Joe Stephens, Bill and Peggy Sewell, and her brother–in–law and his wife Howard and Polly Garrett. Her children and their families were her pride and joy: Amy and Jay Hickey and their children Brittany, Davis, Grace, and Noah; Randy and Melissa Garrett and their son Andrew; and Brian Garrett and his daughter and granddaughter Lela Garrett Dontfraid and RaeLynn. There are a slew of cousins and extended family too numerous to name, but she knew and loved each and every one of them. We don't say goodbye, but just so long for now. We will remember her laughter, her wisdom, her kindness, and her love. She lived her life to the fullest, always up for adventure and travel, always looking to experience new things and new people. She made a difference in so many lives including her family, her church, and her colleagues. We invite you to join us in a celebration of her life at 11am on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Crestview Baptist Church, 615 Old Polk City Road in Lakeland, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Crestview Baptist Church. The link for online giving is below.
