Her obituary: Mary Virginia Whitmire, June 17, 1947 – April 15, 2023. Mary Virginia Whitmire, a beloved resident of East Ridge, Tennessee, passed away on April 15, 2023, at the age of 75. Born on June 17, 1947, in Marietta, Georgia, to Geneva Hicks, Mary lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Mary's heart was always with her family, whom she cherished more than anything. She loved spending time with her children, Terry and Denise, and was a proud grandmother to Shawn Reed and Christopher Brodie. Mary adored her great–grandchildren, Raven Brodie, White Brodie, Raelynn Brodie, Austin Reed, Gavin Reed, and Braxton Reed, who brought immense joy and happiness to her life. Mary's love for her family was matched only by her passion for life. She enjoyed going bowling, exploring yard sales, and always found ways to bring a smile to those around her. Mary's unwavering faith in God was a cornerstone of her life, and she found comfort in her Baptist community.
Mary is survived by her daughter Denise Brodie, sister, Alice Scroggins, brothers, Joe Davis, Herschal Davis, and James Davis, and daughter-in-law, Teresa Whitmire. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Whitmire, mother, Geneva Hicks, Kirk Davis, son, Bill Whitmire Jr., and sister, Pat Schenlle. Arrangements have been entrusted to Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, Cleveland Chapel. The family will receive friends at Companion Funeral Home – Cleveland on April 20, 2023, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Mary's passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her loved ones in heaven and will continue to watch over them from above.
