Her obituary: Donna C. McAdams passed away peacefully in the Halifax Care Center in Ormond Beach, Florida on December 24, 2020 at the age of 72. Donna is survived by her husband, Richard C. McAdams; her sister, Elizabeth C. Mulkey (Hugh) of Chattanooga, Tennessee and her brother, Edgar R.(Reggie) Clauser, III (Paula) of Lake City, Florida. Donna is preceded in death by her mother, Annie Irene Hudson, and her father Edgar Rinker Clauser, Jr. Donna was born on April 12, 1948 in Columbia, South Carolina. She attended both the University of Georgia and Sam Houston State University and graduated in 1993 with a BS in Academic Studies. She graduated from Florida A&M University in 1999 with a Master of Education degree. She became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2001.
Donna married Richard C. McAdams (who she met on a blind date, August 19, 1981) on January 2, 1982. They renewed their marriage vows on their 20th Anniversary. They were truly soul mates and partners for life. Donna began her professional life working in the insurance business but moved into teaching after obtaining her education degree from Sam Houston State. She became a principal in 2005 and in 2009 she was chosen to lead the opening of Pinemount Elementary in Columbia County where she remained as principal until she retired in 2014. She was deeply dedicated to her responsibilities to mold young people and truly loved her work in education. Donna was known as a loving person with a beautiful smile and twinkling eyes. She enjoyed life and had a marvelous sense of humor. She felt that everyone should laugh and enjoy life. Donna also loved dogs, especially dachshunds. She loved to travel, to play tennis and golf, to cook (her idol was Julia Child), to design and make floral arrangements, to go surf fishing (which she could do often after the move to Palm Coast, Florida in 2017), and to sew and to quilt (which she did a lot of as a member of Quilts of Valor). She was extremely proud of making November 10, 2019 a very special day for Veterans at Park Place, the community she was a part of in Palm Coast. With the help of her sister Donna either pieced or quilted 12 amazing quilts for the presentation. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00am on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations in Palm Coast, Florida. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. After the memorial service Donna's remains will be taken to the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida for internment. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Donna's life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Association or the Flagler County Humane Society in her honor. The family of Mrs. McAdams entrusted the arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.
