Don Scharer. Don died on March 25, 1984.
His obituary: Mr. Scharer – Don Scharer, 36, of Marietta, died Sunday. Services will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Hay-Gantt Funeral Home with the Rev. John G. Faircloth officiating. Burial will be in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Born in South Pittsburg, Tenn., Mr. Scharer spent his early life there. He moved to Marietta and graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1966. He served two years in the United States Marines and for the past 12 years was a letter carrier with Station A of the Marietta Post Office. He was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sandra May Scharer of Marietta; three daughters, Amy Scharer, Melissa Scharer, and Heather Hartley, all of Marietta; one son, Mr. Don Scharer, Jr. of Marietta; mother, Mrs. Bessie Mae Scharer of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; four sisters, Patty Barnes, Ann Ridley and Sue Stephens all of South Pittsburg, Tenn., and Reba Scharer of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother, Ted Scharer of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews. Contributions can be made to Chestnut Ridge Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 3217 Staghorn Ct., N.E., Marietta, 30062. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hay-Gantt Funeral Home.
