Glenda Fleeman. Glenda died on December 24, 2024.
Her obituary: Glenda Fleeman Hedden, May 8, 1948 – December 24, 2024. Glenda Fleeman Hedden of Powder Springs, Georgia entered the gates of heaven on December 24, 2024. Glenda was born in Royston, Georgia to Bill and Bertie Fleeman on May 8, 1948. Her family moved to Marietta in 1962. She attended Sprayberry High School, graduating in 1966. The previous year she met her future husband Jerald Russell Hedden on a blind date, and they were married in 1966 at Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta. Together they raised two children, Jama and Russ. Glenda's primary vocation was as a devoted mom and homemaker. Those who knew her would agree that if you were stranded on a deserted island, you would want Glenda there because she was as resourceful as MacGyver. A talented gardener, seamstress, equestrian, marksman and devoted horse show and baseball mom, there was nothing she couldn't do, and all with her signature wit and fashion sense. Her happiest times were spent sitting on the beach reading a book, tending to her many plants, canning vegetables with her mama and daddy, decorating for Christmas, feeding the birds on the farm, working on a sewing project, and visiting Disney World with her grandchildren.
Glenda was preceded in death by her father, Willie James Bill Fleeman and her mother Bertie Elizabeth (Fowler) Fleeman. She is survived by her husband Jerry, sister Joyce Blalock, daughter Jama (Mark) and son Russ (Julie). She also leaves nine grandchildren: Christopher (Emily), Coleman (Chelsea), Nicole (Macall), Jack (Savanna), Robbie, Emma, Sam, Joe (Olivia), and Leon as well as two great-grandchildren Calvin and James.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta.
