His obituary: Jimmy Michael Short, November 11, 1948 ~ May 21, 2023. Jimmy Short was born in Athens, Georgia on November 11, 1948, to the late Edward Short Sr. and Bertie Lou Short. He graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1966 and in 1969, was drafted into Vietnam. Mr. Short received his honorable discharge from the United States Army in Fort Riley, Kansas. Jimmy Short enjoyed fishing and studying history, especially military history. He also loved the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Short is survived by his only child, Sarah Freeze, two brothers; Billy Short and Edward Short Jr., sister; Carolyn Duncan, and two grandchildren; Mason Freeze and Gavin Freeze. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Marietta Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11:00am in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home. Mr. Short will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
