His obituary: Lawrence Edward Folsom, January 25, 1948 – December 17, 2024, Cartersville, GA. Lawrence Edward Folsom, 76, of Cartersville, GA, left his earthly home on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, and ascended into Heaven. He was born in Atlanta, GA, on January 25, 1948, to Roy E and Charlotte Folsom. His battle with serious medical issues over the course of the last few years showed his courage, and despite the pain, Larry came out as a hero and stayed strong until the end. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy E. Folsom, Jr, his mother, Charlotte Louise Folsom, his grandparents, and his niece, Laura Flynn Jenkins. Larry graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1966 and played football and baseball. He made lifelong friends who got together weekly and played cards up until his final days. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971. He did his basic training in San Antonio, TX, tech school in Amarillo, TX, and then 2 years at Tindale AFB in Panama City, FL, which he said was the best time of his life. He was then sent to AK for a year and ended his service career in Rapid City, SD. In the time he was in the service he made more lifelong friends that he kept up with for the last 50 years. He was a great friend to so many and taught his children the value of friendships. He was a huge fan of the Georgia Bulldawgs, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Atlanta Braves. He rarely missed watching a game. He was a loving husband, father, Pops, and uncle; our world will be a lot darker without him in it. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Gail Folsom. His sisters Anita Fiorenza and Denese Smith (Max). His daughter Angela McNeil (Raymond), his son Bryan Folsom (Randi), his grandson Dakota Edward Keown, his granddaughters Karleigh Moore (Cassidy) and Amber, and his great-grandson Declan Edward.
