His obituary: Michael Q. Roper, January 25, 1947 – August 5, 2012. Michael Q. Roper, 65, of Grayson, formerly of Marietta, succumbed to pneumonia on August 5, 2012, after battling Multiple Sclerosis for many years. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home & Crematory, Marietta. Michael is survived by his wife, Lorna Goltz Roper, of Grayson; his son, Sam Roper, daughter-in-law, Amy Roper, grandchildren, Samantha and Quentin, all of Grayson; daughter, Jessica Roper, of Hoover, AL; daughter, Angela Roper-Seale, son-in-law, Wes Seale, and grandson, Paden Seale, all of Hoover. Mike is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Roper Parker, of Marietta; his brother, Ret. Major General Robert W. Roper, of Inman, SC; and nieces and nephews.
The family requests NO FLOWERS. Instead, they have worked for years supporting the GA Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Sam hosts a golf tournament annually with all proceeds benefitting the Society. Checks should be made payable exactly as follows for your tax benefit and the tournament: NMSS Society OR Texas Roadhouse.
