Her obituary: Vicki Harris Davey, August 2, 1948 – October 28, 2014. Vicki Harris Davey, beloved mother and wife, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in Charlotte, NC. She is survived by her mother, Velma Grizzle; her husband, Russ; and their two sons, Mitch and Geoff. Vicki was born in Marietta, Georgia, where she met her high-school sweetheart, Russ. Soon, they were married and would go on to share each other's love for 45 wonderful years. Together, they moved to Charlotte, NC, where they would co-found a small business and start a family. The years that followed brought many adventures, great friendships, and much joy. Vicki loved traveling the world and meeting people. Her bright blue eyes and warm, caring smile were famous for turning complete strangers into old friends. She loved music, dancing, gardening, beachcombing, or simply relaxing on a porch with a view and a glass of wine. Most of all, she loved being with the people she cherished, and she would fill their world with compassion and laughter. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 pm on Friday, October 31 in the Chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Isle of Palms Exchange Club, a local charitable organization that supports the prevention of child abuse.
