Class of 1966


Wayne Fann. Wayne was killed in Vietnam on May 13, 1969, while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps.

His obituary: Pfc. Fann. Pfc. Danny W. (Wayne) Fann, USMC, 21, 626 Honey Bear Lane, NE Marietta died May 13, in the Republic of Vietnam. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Chattahoochee Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Day, Rev. L.C. Densmore, Rev. C.W. Babb, and Rev. Edward Cagle officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. Deacons of Chattahoochee Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers and will meet at the residence at 2:30 p.m. The body will be at the home after 9 a.m. Saturday. Hay-Gantt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Surviving are parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amos C. Fann; two sisters, Mrs. Stephan Cantrell and Miss Kathy Fann, Marietta; brother, Raymond Fann, Marietta, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Nagle, Marietta; paternal grandmother, Mrs. F. C. Fann, Canton. Pfc. Fann was a native and life long resident of Marietta, who was graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1966. He attended Immanuel Bible School in Atlanta, and he previously had worked at Kennestone Hospital and at Sears & Roebuck Co. He was a licensed Baptist minister and had served the Lake Avenue Baptist Mission in Atlanta before entering service. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in July, 1968, and had been in Vietnam four months before his death from hostile action.
