Carroll Blanton. Carroll died on June 5, 2021.

His obituary: Carroll Blanton, May 7, 1948 – June 5, 2021. Carroll Blanton, 73 of Punta Gorda, Florida went to be with his Lord on June 5. A devoted husband and father, Carroll passed away peacefully at home with Sherrie, his loving wife of 37 years, family and close friends by his side. He graciously, courageously and selflessly battled cancer for 3 years. Through it all, he still had the ability to light up a room with his warm smile. Carroll was born to Martha and Earl Blanton in Canton, Georgia. He was a graduate of Sprayberry High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Kennesaw State University. Carroll was in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He was a true patriot and served his country with tremendous pride. He was a proud American. Once a Marine always a Marine! Semper Fi! After a 23-year career with Atlanta Gas Light, where he met Sherrie, the love of his life, they moved from Marietta, Georgia to Punta Gorda, Florida. He wanted to enjoy retirement in a tropical environment and be near their favorite place, the ocean. Carroll and Sherrie were soulmates who shared a loving and wonderful life together. In his role for Atlanta Gas Light, Carroll worked with residential home builders. He was a member of the Home Builders Association of Georgia and active member in the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association where he served on the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors. Carroll was a fixture in Atlanta's home building industry and made many life-long friendships along the way. An avid outdoorsman, Carroll especially enjoyed nautical activities. From fishing and boating to sunset walks on the beach with Sherrie and simply listening to the sound of waves – the ocean was Carroll's heaven on earth. Carroll had one son, Chase, who followed in his footsteps by working in the home building industry. Carroll was very proud of his accomplishments and passion for cycling and above all was proud of the man he became. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Earl and his brother Stanley. Carroll is survived by his wife, Sherrie, his son, Chase, his niece, Kellie Walsh and her husband, Jake and their children Conor and Camryn as well as a host of dear friends. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the caregivers from Tidwell Hospice in Port Charlotte for their compassionate care throughout Carroll's illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to support this nonprofit hospice organization.
