His obituary: Mr H M Or Mike Cook Jr, 49 – H.M. (Mike) Cook Jr., 49, of Piedmont Lane, Cartersville, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999.
Mr. Cook was born Aug. 21, 1949 in Pickens County, was a member of the Pleasant Olive Baptist Church in Rydal, was an electrical coordinator for the Georgia Power Company, and loved cars. Survivors include his mother and father, Lois and Hubert Cook, of Marietta, son and daughter–in–law, Bert and Stacy Cook of White, daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Robert Mealor of Adairsville, son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Beth Cook of Rydal, and mother of children and loving friend, Sherry Cook. Other survivors include sisters and brothers–in–law, Tabatha Holloway of Marietta, Susan and Keith Taylor of Rydal, Lynn Letner of Athens, Tennessee, Patty and Ricky Mullinax of Cumming and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, from the chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Harris Scoggins officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Olive Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Steadman, Rocky Lane, Gerald Garnto, Tommy Ayer, David Martin, and Larry Tidwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitchell Scoggins, Tony Hall, Ronny and Donny Ray, John Hawkins and Wayne Holt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, Mesothelioma Research, 2200 Lake Blvd., Atlanta, GA 30319.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 9 p.m. Thursday. Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
