Class of 1969

Cliff Wright. Chris died on June 20, 2024.

His obituary: Wright, Clifton. Clifton D. Wright of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on June 20th after courageously battling an illness. He was 72. A proud alumnus of Sprayberry High School and the University of West Georgia, Cliff was a charismatic leader, serving as President of the Freshman Class and later as President of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After college, he had a distinguished career with Smirnoff Sales Company, quickly establishing himself as a troubleshooter, and was soon transferred to key roles in Savannah and Miami. His remarkable skills led him to Memphis to consult with Robilio's Wholesale Distributor, where he later became Vice President. During his tenure, he doubled the business's size and significantly expanded its operations. Cliff's expertise caught the attention of one of the largest vendors/partners at Robalo's, leading him to a pivotal role at Banfi Vintners, a premier wine vintner and importer based in Tuscany, Italy, with its domestic headquarters in New York. He retired as one of Banfi's top producers after representing the company across 10 states. Married to Susan Land Wright for 50 years, Cliff lived a life rich with adventure and shared joy, traveling the world and hosting numerous incentive trips for top wholesale distributor salesmen and owners in New York and various countries worldwide. Among his many passions was coaching the East Cobb Sonics Fastpitch Softball team. This was a role he cherished for nearly a decade. His leadership inspired his players, including his daughter Ady, a pitcher for the team, and brought the family together as they traveled across the southeast for games. Cliff is lovingly remembered by his wife, Susan; his daughter, Ady Wright Meschke, and her husband, Michael Meschke; and his adored grandson, Colton, who was the light of his life. He also leaves behind his brother, Randy Wright, and his wife, Freida, of Dallas, Georgia. Cliff will be deeply missed for his generous spirit, leadership, and the profound impact he had on those around him. His legacy of kindness, strength, and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, we request a contribution to Cliff's favorite charity to either build or modify homes for our wounded veterans and families.
