Lynn Hyde. Lynn died on January 18, 2025.
Her obituary: Carol Lynn Hyde Harris, February 26, 1951 – January 19, 2025. Carol Lynn Hyde Harris, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her beloved home on the Etowah River in the early morning hours on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Lynn was born to Mary and Lyle Hyde, Sr., in 1951 in Wilmington, Delaware. Lynn grew up in Smyrna and Marietta, Georgia, where she attended Sprayberry High School. A sassy, beautiful young woman who stood up for her beliefs and spoke her mind, Lynn loved high school and maintained close relationships from that time. Upon graduation, Lynn studied to become an x-ray technician at Grady Hospital and practiced there and in clinics north and south of the city. She was also one of the first female EMTs in Georgia. Lynn had a sharp intellect and mind, reflected in her capacity to play piano by ear, infinite curiosity, book-lined window sills, and wit-filled conversations and letters. Lynn loved her home on the Etowah River, cherishing the sound of the water and chatting with family for hours on the back porch. She was also drawn to the mountains of the region and was deeply proud of her roots in Graham County, North Carolina. Lynn felt great compassion for all creatures. A Christian who embodied the beliefs of St. Francis, Lynn ministered to racoons and opossum, birds, and cats, both feral and domesticated, especially her own, Jasmine, Jen-Jen, BJ, and Jenny. Lynn is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Marianne Hyde; son Christopher Harris and his wife, Thao; son Matthew Harris and his wife, Melanie; niece Jennifer and nephew Jason; grandchildren Haleigh, Payton, Ryan, Noah, May, Ash, Gus, Sarah, and Quinn. Lynn also leaves behind Secret (mother to Payton and Noah) and Theresa Ellis, her best friend from childhood, as well as many others. Lynn loved them all fiercely. Visitation will begin at 9:30am on Saturday, February 1st, at Parrott’s Funeral Home in Fairburn, Georgia. The service will follow at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lynn's name to the Dawson Animal No-Kill Shelter. https://dawsoncountyhumanesociety.org/ [Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory, Fairburn, Ga.]
