Her obituary: Roberta Jane Heinlein, Mableton, Georgia, October 29, 1951 – May 10, 2016. Mrs. Roberta Jane Heinlein, age 64 of Mableton, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Roberta grew up in Marietta and graduated from Sprayberry High School before earning her Bachelor's from the University of Georgia and her Master's from Southern Polytechnic State University. Roberta always strived for personal growth and enjoyed helping those around her. She was an active and dedicated member of Bethany UMC and Koinonia Sunday School Class. She also belonged to two non-profit organizations where she provided invaluable leadership skills for Better Marriages and the Society of Technical Communication. As an adventurous soul, beyond age 50 she enjoyed thrills in an open bi-plane, hot air balloon, parasail, zip line, hang-glider, and went skydiving. Married for over 43 years, Roberta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Terry Heinlein of Mableton, her children: son-Nathan Heinlein (and wife Kimberly) of Tucker, son-Brian Heinlein (and wife Angela) of Marietta, son-Jay Heinlein (and fiancé Nehy) of Smyrna, and 6 grandchildren – Olivia, Chloe, Brandon, William, Noah, & Addison. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 1 – 3 pm and 5 – 8 pm at Carmichael Funeral Home located at 2950 King Street, Smyrna, GA 30080. A Memorial Service will be held 1 pm Saturday, May 14 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Smyrna with Rev. Chip Wilson officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Roberta's life.
