Her obituary: Sybil Sue Towns, August 16, 1951 – December 8, 2024. Sybil Sue Towns, age 73, of Canton passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Sybil was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia and attended Sprayberry High School. She later moved to Cherokee County where she has resided for the last 40 years. Sybil was blessed with 49 years of marriage to her best friend, Fred Towns. She had a beautiful singing voice. During her younger years, she sang songs of praise at weddings and funerals. She later continued singing praises as a member of East Cobb Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia. Sybil loved nature and had a farming side to her as well. She had horses and chickens for many years. She loved riding and taking care of her horses and got joy out of raising chickens and watching them grow. She was an accomplished gardner growing a large variety of vegetables and canning them for family members and future use. Sybil retired on disability from the United States Postal Service after approximately 15 years. Afterwards, for many years, she was an empathetic and compassionate caretaker for her mother-in-law. She had an extraordinary sense of humor and brought pleasure to the ones that loved her. Sybil will be missed by family and friends that knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Towns of Canton, sons, Mike and Casey Dickerson of Ballground, brother, Stanley Wilson of Rockmart, step-daughter, Tina Satterfield (Roddy) of Cartersville, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Hoyle Hendrix and Valley Hendrix, sisters Annie Hornsby, Janice Atchinson, Reva Kuykendall and Gwen Dean, and a step-daughter, Arlene Forrest. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 11:00 am at Milford Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.
