45 of Marietta, died Tuesday, December 8, 1998. She was born September 21, 1953 in Atlanta, the daughter of John Robert and Velma (Bryant) Grimes. She married Joseph J. Corbitt, Jr. on September 2, 1972. She graduated in 1971 from Sprayberry High School, Marietta, where she was a Governor’s Honor Student. She graduated in 1984 from Kennesaw College, and began her nursing career as a Labor and Delivery Technician and Registered Nurse at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta. For the past nine years, she has worked as a Registered Nurse at Crawford Long Hospital, Atlanta. She was a member of Noonday Baptist Church, Marietta, and a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader for Marietta area scouting organizations. She was also a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor and a C.P.R./A.C.L.S. Instructor. Survivors include her husband, Joseph J. Corbitt, Jr., Marietta; one son, Dallas J. Corbitt, Dallas; one daughter, Jessica A. Corbitt, Marietta; her parents, John Robert and Velma Bryant Grimes, Marietta; two brothers, Robert H. Bobby Grimes and Tracy Lee Grimes, both of Cartersville, and one nephew, Robert John Grimes. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10 at Medford-Peden Funeral Home, Marietta. Burial will follow at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens, Acworth. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the American Cancer Society, North Cobb Unit, 1256 North Cobb Parkway, Suite 102, Marietta, GA. 30062, or to any Battered Women’s Shelter.
