Football Fever

What is all this football noise
About pretty cheerleaders and big, strong boys.
About crazied fans that cry and scream
Getting behind their favorite team.

About coaches that eat, sleep, and drink
Those unanswered questions that will hopefully link.
A well planned attack to lead the fight
That will prove victorious on Friday night.

About proud parents that swerve and jerk
Trying to beat the traffic after Friday's work.
To get home and get all clean and neat
So they can rush to the stadium to find a seat.

Missing out on an evening relaxation
At home so serene.
To gobble down popcorn and hotdogs
And pull for their team.

Like the civilized Roman population
From centuries ago.
Viewing their favorite clad warriors
All dueling below.

And as they tire of this grueling night
The fans roar to carry on the fight.
They chant and scream and say "Let's go"
And now the adrenalin begins to flow.

Bruises and scrapes that ache with pain
Are simply there but unknown to the brain.
And money and cars and having fun
Will have to wait until the game is done.

And when the battle is over
And you're on your homeward plight.
If you're crazy enough to love it
You can't wait until next Friday night.
