His obituary: Allan Douglas Kollar, July 27th, 1964 – August 29th, 2020. Allan Douglas Kollar died with friends and family at his side at Venice Regional Bayfront Health on August 29, 2020 in Venice, FL. He was 56. Allan was born on July 27, 1964 in Greenville, SC to his parents, Charles Stephen Kollar, III and Deloris Bishop Kollar. He studied theatre at Manatee Community College. He was married to Kimberly Gardner Kollar in Sarasota, FL in 1997. The Kollars lived in Venice, FL where they both worked full time at Venice Theatre. Over the course of 22 years, Allan worked his way up through various administrative and artistic positions until he became the Artistic Director in 2018. He was integral in raising the theatre's stature in the community, as well as nationally and internationally. His accomplishments included computerizing ticket sales, creating a successful concert series and the annual summer cabaret festival; and acting in and directing dozens of shows, both comedic and dramatic. Allan also oversaw the growth of the theatre's volunteer force, the programming for the volunteer parties, the establishment of the acting intern program and management of the production team. Most importantly, he will be remembered for the heart and soul he brought to his work and his friendships in the theatre community. Hundreds if not thousands of actors worked under his leadership as a director. He taught, he encouraged, he listened, he mentored, he made people laugh and he always put on a good show. Allan is survived by his wife, Kimberly of Venice, FL; his son, Charles of Montclair, NJ; his brother, Eric of Sarasota, FL; his nephew, Daniel Kollar; his father, Charles Stephen Kollar, III and his step-mother, Shirley Kollar of Tarpon Springs, FL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Deloris Bishop Kollar. A celebration of Allan's life will take place on a date to be determined later at Venice Theatre. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Venice Theatre, 140 Tampa Avenue W. in Venice, FL. They may also be made online at www.VeniceTheatre.org/contribute.
