Her obituary: Wendi Vaughn Covert. May 5, 1971 – June 8, 2026, (age 55). After a valiant six year fight against cancer, Wendi Vaughn Covert, age 55 of Flowery Branch, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026. Wendi was a beloved wife, mother of three, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme on June 8, 2020. Wendi was born May 5, 1971 to Charles R. Vaughn & Vicki Jordan in Atlanta, Georgia. Wendi was a lover of animals, raising goats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits, as well as her favorite animals, her children. Wendi raised three kind and gentle children, who also share her love of nature and music. Wendi was a proud graduate of Jacksonville State University (AL). She was a science and music teacher at Lumpkin County Middle School and accountant for the City of Dahlonega. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Joe Covert; sons, Aaron Asbury Covert and Jacob Stanton Covert; daughter, Catherine Grace Covert; father, Charles R. Bob Vaughn; mother, Vicki McClelland; stepmother, Donna Vaughn; stepfather, James Jim McClelland; stepsister, Tracy Lovig; stepbrother Scott George; sister-in-law, Karen Emmons; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Wendi on June 20th, 2026 from 2-5 PM at the Georgia Mountains Unitarian Universalist Church, 3155 Morrison Moore Pkwy E, Dahlonega, GA 30533. Please come prepared to share memories of Wendi, as well as enjoy some of her favorite foods. Also, there will be live music. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Wendi’s memory to the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center which provided outstanding hospice care to Wendi and the family.
