Adam Hayes. Adam died on October 6, 2022.
His obituary: Adam Robert Hayes, September 5, 1978 – October 6, 2022. Adam Hayes, age 44, of Mableton, Georgia, passed away on October 6, 2022 in Atlanta, GA. Adam was born on September 5, 1978 at Northside hospital and was raised in Marietta, Georgia. At 4 months he was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Despite many health challenges and countless hospital stays throughout his life, he never once complained. He lived a life full of laughter, love, shenanigans and happiness. He graduated from Sprayberry High School. He attended Valdosta State and then Georgia Tech where he met his best friends Brian, Rob, Brody and Stephen. He eventually graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology where he was a member of Tau Alpha Pi honor society. He worked for most of his career as an electrical designer at Salas O'Brien. Adam loved going to concerts, sporting events, and Georgia Tech tailgates; watching movies and playing video games; playing volleyball, softball, golf, cycling and skiing. He loved telling dad jokes. He was loved by all animals and children, especially his nephews and niece who enjoyed sharing Adam's love of all things Lego. Adam and Livia were blessed to share 13 years of adventures, including 10 years of marriage, in which they traveled, drank caipirinhas on the beach and checked off bucket list trips to the Maldives, Tokyo, Dubai and Oktoberfest. They visited 12 of 30 ballparks on Adam's MLB ballpark tour. Adam made Livia laugh every day, and she will miss his sharp wit, sense of humor, great laugh, smile and unconditional love. Adam fought valiantly and tirelessly against CF for 42 years until February 11, 2021 when he received the gift of a double lung transplant at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. His post-transplant recovery was not without its challenges, however his transplant team remembers that in his quietness there was much kindness, graciousness, patience and resilience. Adam taught everyone valuable lessons over the years, among them: that you can order a bowl of cheese at Fellinis, how to balance 3 cats at a time, how you can manage to not say a word at a get together of Delta people, the fine art of subtle sarcasm, that you should double check restroom signs when traveling in non English speaking countries, there's only one way to pack the truck bed for the tailgate, and most importantly, how to navigate through all the ups and downs of life with grace, humor, wisdom and humility. Adam is survived by his wife, Livia, of Mableton and their 3 furkids Hops, Stout and Porter; his mother, Karen, of Atlanta; a sister Alicia (Dave) Landry of Brentwood, TN and their children Grady, Grant, Greer and Greta; a half-sister Nikki (Jim) Foley of Barnhart, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Carol Butch Hayes and grandparents. Services will be held Thursday, October 13th at Marietta Funeral Home in Marietta Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Duke Health in support of the Lung Transplant Director's Fund to support education and patient needs.
