Scott Baxter. Scott died on May 12, 2021.
His obituary: Scott Baxter, November 25, 1980 – May 12, 2021. John Scott Baxter of Helena, Alabama, was born on November 25, 1980, in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of John and Lanie Baxter of Kennesaw, Georgia. Scott was a graduate of Sprayberry High School where he played football and played concert tuba in the Symphonic Band; and Mississippi State University where he was a member of the Famous Maroon Band, playing sousaphone. Scott was a Professional Geologist and Project Manager with CBNA Project Management and oversaw multiple drilling projects for the Southern Company. He was baptized in the Chapel of the Cross in Gluckstadt, Mississippi, and a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta, Georgia. BAX , as he was affectionately known to those close to him, loved the great outdoors, simple traditions, military history, Mississippi State Football, Lanie's biscuits and his beloved truck Sheila. A fearless traveler, Bax went on several adventures, including climbing numerous peaks, rafting class IV rapids and even cage diving with great white sharks in Cape Town, South Africa. He also took pleasure in the quiet times whether it be fly fishing on the Little Red River, a hot cup of coffee on the porch on a cold winter morning, or a sunrise on the Gulf Coast. Most of all, he was fiercely protective and loving of his family and friends. A true Southern Gentleman with a mischievous grin and an addictive personality, Bax could comfort the weary, work the room or take care of business whenever he was needed. John Scott Baxter is survived by his parents John and Lanie, aunts and uncles, cousins and more friends than can be counted. While he may have moved on from this world to bigger and better things, he will forever live in our hearts. [Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Marietta, Ga]
