His obituary: Eric Steven Cannedy, March 13, 1983 – July 22, 2020. Eric Steven Cannedy of Marietta died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Born in Alton, IL on March 13, 1983, Eric was the son of Steven and Sarah Cannedy of Marietta. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister and her husband, Lauren and Andy Hudgins of Marietta, and their 21-month-old son, Drew. He is also survived by his brother and his wife, Adam Cannedy and Marielle Rousseau of Sunnyside, NY. He is also survived by his grandmother, Ruth Schmitt, of Troy, IL, and many loving great aunts and great uncles, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eric was a Graphic Designer with ShelfGenie of Atlanta. He loved his family and friends deeply, and he was equally loved. He was an avid baseball fan who loved talking about the sport, and about the St. Louis Cardinals in particular. His spirit animal was an elephant because they love and protect their families fiercely. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Roy Schmitt, Kenneth Cannedy, and Shirley Cannedy. Open visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:00 on Wednesday, July 30, 2020, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. Following will be a private service at 4:00. The service will be live-streamed at www.mayeswarddobbins.com, and it can be viewed afterward at the same web address. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in loving memory of Eric to www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.com, which benefits the protection and preservation of elephants.
