Her obituary: Rebecca Anna O'Neal, December 12, 1986 – June 17, 2022. Rebecca Anna O'Neal (Mattord) passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. Rebecca was born in Austin, Travis County, Texas on December 12, 1986, at Seton Medical Hospital and lived with her family in Red Rock, Texas until they moved to Marietta, Georgia in 1992. Rebecca attended Mountain View Elementary School, Simpson Middle School, and Sprayberry High School. During her formative school years, she excelled in her academics, played the flute in the orchestra, and participated in drama club and cheerleading. At Kennesaw State University, Rebecca earned a Bachelor of Art in Geography and completed the Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) Professional Certification. Rebecca was an active, outgoing personality who loved pursuing her career as a GIS specialist in the Atlanta area and continued her professional education by earning the Geographic Information Systems Software Professional (GISSP), spending time with family and friends, reading, and, above all, traveling. She was also a giving person who had volunteered at the Chattahoochee Nature Center and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, as well as serving an internship to assess and evaluate the health and longevity of the trees at the Marietta City Cemetery. Rebecca is survived by her parents, Herb and Carola Mattord; her sister, Lisa Hayhome; her grandparents, Dorothea and Horace Enlow; her aunts and uncles: Tim and Melissa Enlow, Tom and Joan Mattord, Terry Mattord, Roberta Mattord, Connie and David Chapman; and her nieces, Julie, Ellie. The family will be receiving visitors at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, Ga 30066 on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent in her loving memory to Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Avenue, Atlanta, GA, 30309.
